Insect Recycling

Swallowtail larva (Graphium agamemnon, family Papilionidae) feeding on its moulted skin. It will swallow the skin completely although this clip falls short of that. No one taught it how to recycle but it does such a splendid job of it. If it is inborn in them then I can only say in the evolution of man some vitally important trait was missing or lost in the process.
