Whirligig Beetles Mating In January
From the video's description: These whirligig beetles (family: Gyrinidae) were forming aggregations -- and appeared to be mating -- on Dry Lagoon in Humboldt County, California on January 14, 2011. The air temperature has been in the 50's and low 60's F for a couple of days, and these beetles were not visible at this location last week with the temperatures in the 30's and 40's. I'm not sure what their behaviors are, but it looked like some individuals spun in a tight circle and another would pounce on it from underwater. Anyway, they were very interesting to observe.

The Horndawg (aka RPT Nymph)
I haven't gone fishin' in at least 2 years but I'm learning from this video:
From the video's description: This is a great little prospecting pattern that could represent a multitude of insects from stoneflies to mayflies. This pattern works especially well when dropped off the bend of a hopper or other bushy dry in the summer or in series with some heavy weighted nymphs in the winter.

European Hornet Movie
From the video's description: The European hornets, Vespa crabro, have a worker caste and form annual colonies which last for just one summer. In the video one can see workers active around their nest entrance in a hollow tree. Hornets are capable of fanning their wings like bees to cause a draught, or movement of air, for cooling the nest or evaporating moisture from the larvae. They prey on many types of insects, particularly on caterpillars, although hornets are attracted to meat and sweet drinks. Their painful stinging ability causes alarm and fear.
But it is sensible to leave hornet nests undisturbed in order to encourage the natural control of pests. More importantly it will help protect wildlife.
Sting prevention:
Don't get closer to a colony than 3 meters (9 ft.)!
And what is more important avoid blocking their flight path and slapping against these insects.
One sting does cause pain no longer than a sleepless night lasts. So there's enough time cooling the area around the sting to get a wonderful and completely unique experience.

This Fly is the Jesus of the Insect World
I think this qualifies as cruel and unusual punishment. The fly isn't dead in the first place, just in a temporary coma for lack of oxygen. The salt helps to leach the water out of the water.

Cambodian ants devour each other
The video's title isn't accurate because it's just some ants bringing a larger ant's dead body back to the nest for food... later. The video was taken in the vicinity of a ruined temple near Angkor Wat, Cambodia.

Insects transmit Chagas Disease
From the video's description: Chagas disease is transmitted via Triatomine insects and affects about 15 million people. Poor housing make an ideal place for these bugs to live in. In the night, they come out and feed on the blood of the people and domestic animals.
